Dr Mohammed Cassim, BDS (Wits)

Dr Cassim qualified at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1998 and spent years practising and completing postgraduate studies in the UK before returning home to open his Sandton practice.

His philosophy is simple: truly care about every patient, and help each person keep their teeth in comfort, function and aesthetics for a lifetime. He sees one patient at a time — never double booked — so your appointment is unhurried and personal.

Patients consistently describe him as gentle, thorough and painless — especially those who arrive nervous.

Questions

Frequently asked

The things patients ask us most often — before they call.

Do you accept my medical aid?

Most medical aids are accepted. Please bring your medical aid card to your appointment.

If you'd like to know what a specific treatment will cost you, call the practice on 011 883 3005 and we'll talk you through it before you book.

What does a first visit cost, and what happens?

A first consultation starts from R600 and takes about 30 minutes. It includes a full dental evaluation, an honest discussion of your options and a customised treatment plan.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Your ID or passport, your medical aid card if you have one, any recent X-rays, and a list of medication you're currently taking.

I have a dental emergency — what do I do?

During practice hours call 011 883 3005 and we'll find you a same-day slot. After hours, call the emergency line on 079 406 3045.

If a tooth has been knocked out, keep it moist — in milk if possible — and come in immediately.

Are you open on Saturdays?

Yes — Saturdays 08:00 to 11:30. We're open Monday to Thursday 08:30 to 16:45, and Fridays 08:30 to 11:45 and again 14:30 to 16:45. We're closed on Sundays.

I'm nervous about seeing a dentist. Can you help?

Yes — this is what the practice is built around. Dr Cassim sees one patient at a time and never double books, so your appointment is unhurried and there's time to talk through what's happening before anything is done. Patients who arrive nervous most often describe the experience as gentle and painless.

Do you see children?

We do, and patients regularly tell us Dr Cassim is excellent with children. Book under "Child's appointment" and we'll allow the right amount of time.

Where do I park, and is the practice accessible?

There's ample parking in Sandton City Shopping Centre, and the Gautrain station is one block away. Medical Mews has elevator and full wheelchair access.

How do I book an appointment?

Send a request through the booking form and the practice will confirm your appointment by phone or email, usually the same working day. You're welcome to call 011 883 3005 or WhatsApp us on 082 534 2703 instead — and if you're in pain, please call rather than use the form.
